Project:

Kevin, a homeowner in Doncaster, approached All About Arboriculture with concerns about a tree in his garden. Upon inspection, it was determined that the tree was affected by meripulus fungus. Complicating matters, the tree was protected under a Tree Preservation Order (TPO), adding regulatory hurdles to the project.

Challenges:

The presence of meripulus fungus posed a significant risk to the tree’s stability, necessitating its removal for safety reasons. However, navigating the TPO regulations added complexity to the project, requiring careful coordination with local tree officers. Additionally, the logistics of safely removing the tree, especially considering its protected status and potential impact on surrounding vegetation and structures, presented a challenge.

Result:

Despite the challenges, All About Arboriculture successfully managed the project from start to finish. Following discussions with the local tree officers, it was agreed that the tree posed a hazard and could be exempted from the TPO for removal. With meticulous planning and scheduling adjustments, the removal was completed efficiently over three days. The tree’s canopy was expertly removed using free fall techniques and rigging on the first day, followed by the felling of the stem and processing on the second day. Finally, the stump was completely ground out using specialized equipment on the third day.

To ensure the continued health and beauty of the garden, a new beech tree was sourced and planted in a separate location, as agreed upon with the tree officer. Throughout the project, All About Arboriculture handled all aspects, including quoting, planning, coordination with local authorities, and sourcing of the replacement tree, providing Kevin with peace of mind and a hassle-free experience.
